Season's Greetings

SOC
I completed this LO for the December challenge over at Scraps of Color. December's colorful challenge included the usage of red, green, black and gold. The title and flower are cuts from the Winter Woodland cartridge. This picture was used on our holiday cards too!

Snow Storm

Snow
We're snowed in today, we received about 8 inches over night and it is currently sleeting. I took this picture last night just before I went up to bed for the night. I was suppose to take my car in this morning to be serviced so I guess I need to call and reschedule for one day next week since I don't plan on going out at all today. I'm spending my day doing household chores and hopefully I'll get to scrap some too.

Secret Santa Gifts

Secret Santa2
Secret Santa1
I'm celebrating along with other scrappin' sistas our secret santa gift exchange challenge hosted on SistasScrapToo. As you can see I received some nice goodies! Thank you Shelia who lives here in Virginia, I sent my gift to a scrappin' sista in Ohio.

Twister

Twister
I completed this LO as part of a challenge over at Urban Scrappers. It was a sketch provided by one of the members and the host/owner of Scraps of Color. The LO is one of my DD and two of her cousins playing twister on Thanksgiving Day.

Student of the Week

SOW
DD is student of the week this week so she is more than happy being showcased. This is her with her completed poster which will be on display in her classroom. She chose to use a wide variety of mostly recent pictures with the exception of our family picture taken Thanksgiving 2005.

Steeler Fan

fan
When we went to Pittsburgh to visit Justin we came back home with a steeler fan. She proudly shows off the #39 jersey worn by Willie Parker. Justin helped her choose the jersey since it was a gift from him. She is saving it to wear when she is "Student of the Week" at school.

Adore

Adore
I found this picture on my mother-in-law's camera and decided to scrap it as I enjoy scrapping pictures of my DH and DD together. I'm not sure where I was when the picture was taken or what they were suppose to be doing but it's just another display of their affection for each other.

Wacky Feet

Wacky Feet
This LO will be included in my daughter's third grade album. The Student Council hosted a Wacky Feet Day and this LO includes my daughter's feet and the feet of some of her classmates. They wore mismatch shoes and socks, some wild and wierd and others tidy and neat.

I AM GRATEFUL

Grateful
I did this LO using one of my favorite pictures of my children. It was taken on my daughter's 7th birthday. I completed this LO for the November Challenge on Scraps of Color. I enjoyed working on this LO and was pleased with the outcome because my children mean the world to me!

Mother/Daughter Duo

Photobucket
Does this picture look familiar? I've posted it before when we first got back from the Movement and Wellness Expo earlier this year. I finally decided to scrap it as part of a challenge from the Urban Scrappers board. The challenge was to use a black and white picture, two different pattern papers and add some doodling which I think I don't do very well.

Book of Me

BOM
This LO is the title page for my Book of Me album that I am working on. This challenge was restarted by ValerieH. over on the cricut messageboard. I am about five weeks behind but I do plan to continue to work on this project at my own pace as this is such an important project. I didn't include a picture on the title page because the album that I chose has the insert for a picture. Stay tuned for my dedication page!

Sista Challenges

Nubian Challenge
This card is a result of a challenge given to me by fellow scrappin' sista NubianCrafterNC from the cricut board. It involved using common household bleach as the stamp pad, and in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness it had to include pink. I will probably use this technique again. October was a busy month over at the
SistasScrapToo blog and I was able to complete all of the challenges. I'm so glad that I was able to complete the challenges because it helps me with my scrappin' and offers the opportunity to step out of my comfort zone and learn some new techniques.

Fall Fun

Photobucket
This is a LO of pictures taken at this year's state fair. We went on a Friday night and the weather was nice so she was able to have lots of fun. I tried to make a candied apple which is one of the treats she had to have while at the fair.

Family Fun

Photobucket
Our fun weekend is coming to an end in just a few hours as we start our long ride home to Richmond. We've had so much fun, I hope that we can do it again soon. Trips are even nicer when so much fun can be included with a business trip. Esperanza has been beside herself and has alot of show and tell goodies for when she's the student of the week.

Priceless Moments

Happiness
This picture was taken while we were waiting for our dinner last night at Outback (my son's treat). Oh the joy and excitement of my daughter as she got to see her big brother. My heart overflows with joy when they get to see each other since he lives in Pittsburgh and we live in Virginia. They were born 17 years apart but they have a special bond and they truely adore each other. He took off all weekend to spoil her rotten so of course there will be more pictures. I am thankful for my children and special moments like these.

Weekly Update

Photobucket
Happy Friday, yes indeed I am off work and almost ready for our little weekend getaway. We are headed to Pittsburgh where we'll hang out with Justin for a few days. So much has been happening but everything is being put on hold so that we can make this trip. I've had a busy week so that means not too much crafting being done but in one of my previous weekly post I mentioned my new toy. Yes, its picture above the cricut expression and I finally opened and used it. I won't be taking it with me but I'll have plenty to keep me busy for the drive and while I'm there.

Weekly Update

My first Sunday weekly update in a while. So much has been happening so I wanted to just blog about some of it. My family was recently given some bad news about my uncle, my mother's youngest brother. We are coping and relying on our faith as we rally together to move forward as we accept God's will. I am thankful for my immediate and extended family. Yesterday was a very busy day for me as I attended a scrapbooking event along with some of my scrappin' sista friends and we had a blast. We shopped, ate, made cards, worked on albums, completed make & takes, workshops and just had some good wholesome fun! I was able to start an album that I've been needing to do for a few months. I still need to work on my card for National Cardmaking Day! Yesterday was the start of Fall soccer season for our daughter and they had their first victory, go Fisher Tigers!

Weekly Update

The weekly updates are turning into whenever I find the time updates. School is open and that means I've got less time for scrappin' but I'm doing as much as time permits. The first two weeks of school has been an adjustment and we're still trying to figure out how to best approach 3rd grade. More homework means less time for extra activities so that meant a schedule modification. On another note, I got a new scrapbooking toy and I'm so excited and I can't wait to start using it. I'll probably do a separate post with my new tool soon.A big thank you and show of appreciation to my sister!

First Day of School

First Day of School
Wow, can you believe it? I have a third grader, this is a LO of the first day of school. She's growing up way too fast, I'm not so happy that my baby isn't a baby anymore!

Wednesday, September 9, 2009

Weekly Update

Fall is near as its not as warm as it has been, I wonder what the next few months will be like. Yesterday was the first day of school and we now have a big third grader. She came home so full of excitement which I hope lasts all year long. She was especially excited about changing classes. We're still trying to get our routine down which is making me totally exhausted and it has only been two days. I haven't been able to get any scrappin' done but I hope to complete some cards and LOs this weekend.

Daddy & Daughter

Checkers
This is a picture of my DH and DD playing checkers at Cracker Barrel in Fayetteville. This was his birthday and we were headed home after spending the weekend in Fayetteville for my cousin's wedding. Its moments like these that I cherish because my daughter and her dad have a totally different daddy/daughter relationship than the one that I had with my dad when I was a little girl. I wish someone had documented special moments like these with my dad. I hope she appreciates the effort that I put into documenting her memories.

Girl Power

Girl Power
As part of my daughter's school Health and & Wellness Program the PTA hosts an annual 5K. This LO was done as an honor to me and other parents that have a true desire to live healthier but life sometimes get in the way. We endured and finished well behind others including our children but the fact that we participated is a testament.

Who Am I

ME
This is a LO I completed for the sistascraptoo challenge blog. It is entitled "Who AM I." I used pictures taken the last few months that I used on LOs for our sista birthday swap exchange. I finally completed a LO that only included pictures of me, I rarely scrap pictures of me since I'm always taking the pictures!

Thursday, August 27, 2009

Weekly Update

Today is my Friday, I'm off tomorrow and Monday. We are headed to Fayetteville for the weekend to attend my cousin's wedding. This week has been pretty uneventful, I have been able to get some scrappin' done; I'll post some of my projects before I leave in the morning if time permits. There have been some changes over at the cricut MB, reoganization which is a sign that I was spending way too much time on the board. Stay tuned!!!

Lil Diva

Photobucket
This is one of the LOs that I completed recently, these pictures were taken on a recent weekend getaway to the Tidewater area. She's wearing one of her favorite dresses so she was more than happy to pose.

Weekly Update

I didn't get a chance to update my blog last week as I was totally exhausted after our trip to Washington. We had so much fun that I didn't even take as many pictures as I would have normally. Anyway I'm a little more rested but still got alot going on but I wanted to add something since I'm trying to stay on top of posting. Summer is winding down and we'll be gearing up for the school year soon. We have one more trip planned next weekend to NC for a wedding and then nothing else until later in the year. I will post something craft related this week too!

Weekly Update

Washington
This photo is one that I took on Monday night while we were strolling the grounds of the hotel, I'll post more next week. Today is Saturday and I've been trying to update my blog since the very beginning of the week. We have been in Washington, DC since Monday and we have been going non-stop so I'm finally sneaking in a few minutes of time to blog. All week no blogging, no MB, no papercrafting and having so much to do that I haven't even taken as many pictures as I thought I'd take either. We have been attending my husband's fraternity's national meeting in Washington and they have rolled out the red carpet for us and we've contributed just as much as we've received.

Christmas in July

Holiday Cards
Christmas in July, I created these cards as part of the sista challenge on the MB. The challenge was to create a holiday card or LO, I did these three simple cards using my scraps and stash.

Tuesday, July 28, 2009

Weekly Update

Well I started off with a bang in July as far as papercrafting but now I've lost alot of steam. I have so many other things to handle that I can't get anything done. My personal challenges are not being done which; I try not to set the bar too high but I don't feel like I'm making progress. Just got back from a weekend getaway with my husband and daughter, that was fun and somewhat releaxing. We're gearing up for our weeklong getaway next week which is what has me stressed now.

Birthday Cards

Photobucket
Photobucket
August is right around the corner so I'm making my cards for August birthdays, I still need to finish one for a July birthday too! The cupcake card is for my nephew and the golf card for my brother-in-law. The golf card was made from a cutfile shared by a cricut MB member, I'm so bad about specifics sometimes. Thanks anyway to the person that shared the file.

Happy Friday

Its Friday and I'm doing the happy dance because for the first time in a long time I get to leave work early and not use my PTO. I hate PTO, I've stayed late a few days this week so I get to leave just a little earlier. I've also had a relatively good crafting week to, completed some LOs and cards which I'll post later today. I have a few things planned for the weekend but I hope to do more papercrafting, housework of course and some much needed rest. Take care.

Wednesday, July 15, 2009

Weekly Update

Photobucket
Its Wednesday and I'm happy to report I have been completing some of my personal scrapping challenges. This is a LO of Esperanza hitting tennis balls in the park on Saturday. Earlier in the day she went to the sporting goods store with her dad and bought tennis balls (pink of course) and wrist bands. She always dresses the part well of course, gotta try to find money for her to take tennis lessons now.

This is the thank you card that our Vacation Bible School class will be including with our donation for a care package for a soldier serving overseas. We collected donations all week as part of a missions project. Today is Friday and we'll be having our closing celebration for VBS. This was a different experience for me being a co-teacher for the 3rd and 4th grade students.

Weekly Update

So much has been going on that I don't know where to begin. Another blog award from Jennifer over at jennifersscrapshack.com, thanks Jennifer. I still haven't figured out how to display them on my blog yet; maybe one day. I'd like to put them on the side and not as a posts. I'm working on my scrappin' challenges as much as possible and enjoying some downtime. Stay tuned for the posting of my next project.

Generations

Generations
This is a LO of my mother, my daughter and me of a picture taken this past Mother's Day. I am so happy for the time that my DD gets to spend with her grandparents because I really enjoyed the time that I spent with my grandparents. When I was growing up I didn't spend as much time with my paternal grandparents but my husband I try a different balance with our daughter.

DAD WordBook

DAD
I made this wordbook for my husband for Father's Day from our daughter. It was alot of work but I think it came out fairly well for a first try. Thank you to the cricut MB members that provided cutfiles for the book.

Monday, June 15, 2009

Weekly Update

I want to thank Myra, Sharon and Lanita for the awards which I'll have to post later once I figure out what I'm suppose to do. I am thankful for the awards and what each scrappin' sista has added to my life.

Its Monday and I went through last week without making a weekly note on my blog. All is well but busy as usual in the life of a totally chaotic scrapper. My daughter's last day of school is tomorrow so I hope to get more done in all areas of my life.

Paper Bag Album

Photobucket
This paper bag album was done for one of the sista challenges. I've made several different style of paper bag albums but I think I like this one best. I really like the paper and it was one of the $1 packs from Michaels. I haven't added pictures or embellishments because I haven't decided whether I'll keep it or give it as a gift.

Mystery Blog Candy Contents Revealed!!!
Seven comments was left on my blog, I wrote the numbers 1-7 on strips of paper and placed them in a bowl. I had my daugher to draw a number; She drew the #3 which was the comment left by I2BZ2W8. Congratulations to Sharon and thanks for visiting my blog and leaving a comment.

Blog Candy

One of the Sista challenges for this week is that we go blog hopping and post messages. I've participated in several blog hops where blog candy is an incentive to get people to follow blogs or leave comments. That being said I'm offering some blog candy for anyone that posts a comment to my blog from now until Thursday, June 4. It'll be a mystery grab bag.

Scallop Edge Dresses

Photobucket
Dreses for every style and taste. This was the another challenge for the sista thread, as originally shared by a SU demo. The sistas really got into this one and I think everyone had fun working on them too. This is two of the dresses that I completed, some of the details aren't clearly visible in the pictures. A special thank you to my sistas from the MB for their help too. Visit the sista blog for a complete fashion show!

Tri-Fold Card

Trifold
This is my version of the tri-fold card challenge on the sista thread of the MB. The instructions used were posted by Craftiblog on wordpress. The actual cutting/making of the card was easy the hard part was the embellishments; maybe it would have been different had I chosen different paper.

Hand

Henna
While we were at BOCA last week Esperanza had to have some HENNA. We got our hands and feet done before we left home but she had to have an added attraction. When we were having dinner on Sunday evening it was an eye catcher so we had to explain. The picture was actually taken while we were taking a walk in Georgetown after dinner.

Weekly Update

Happy Sunday, I'm updating my blog although I'm so far behind in most everything that I'm doing. Last week was full of a million things to do as usual. I did get some crafting done but of course not as much as I wanted, I made two trips to Michaels and along with some other sistah scrappers I'm putting myself on a shopping BAN for the month of June. I'm going to make sure I have enough adhesive today and my only purchases for June will be for the sistah birthday club and I'm determined to get that out in time for her birthday. My sister was in Virginia for Georgia and we hung out for a few on Friday, I wish she lived closer. I'd love for us to scrap together; we'd be inspiration for each other. She is more of a collector and she does more cardmaking. Thanks for my Glue Glider Pro and everything else.

Dancing Divas

Dance
This a picture of me and my daughter taken at the 2009 BOCA (Bellydancers of Color) Movement & Wellness Expo at the Hilton in Silver Springs, Maryland.

Tuesday, May 26, 2009

Weekly Update

Its Tuesday and I'm finally getting around to updating my blog but its with good reason. I had such a good Memorial Day weekend that I wasn't ready to come back to to work. It all started on last Friday when we drove to Silver Springs Maryland for the Bellydancers of Color 2009 Movement and Wellness Expo. We stopped in Woodbridge and had dinner with a fellow sistah (Sharon) who was to join us on Saturday. We took classes on Saturday and attended a show that night and it was indeed a great experience and a fun time also. I think Esperanza had the most fun, she took Belly Dancing Basics and Hip Hop, went to the movies and shopped with her dad. I am planning to take classes weekly starting next month. Stay tuned for pictures from our fun filled Memorial Day weekend.

Sunday, May 17, 2009

Weekly Update

Its Sunday and I'm doing my weekly update, goodie for me. Last week was busy and of course I'm expecting nothing less especially at work. Today my FIL's church gave him an appreciation service, it was good and we had dinner afterwards. We enjoyed the fellowship of family and friends both from near and far. I hope to complete a scrapbook for him by Father's Day which will be a tall order with everything else thats going on. I finished all three sista challenges last week and I need to get my sista birthday package in the mail this week too.

I'll Always Love My Mamma

Song
This is a LO that was completed for one of our sista challenges. The challenge was to use a song or poem in your LO, I used the title song along with a picture taken with my mother on Mother's Day. The song is an oldie by the Intruders.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day
This a Mother's Day LO that showcases some of the gifts I received. I enjoyed doing this LO and I used it as part of two separate MB challenges. I thank God everyday for my children. My son sent me flowers and a necklace and my daughter made a stepping stone for my flower bed and she painted a flower pot in her class.

Weekly Update

Oh well better late than never, yesterday was Mother's Day and I didn't have time to update my blog! Yesterday, was a good day, one that really makes you proud to be a mother. My children blessed me with love and gifts; my daughter and I spent some quality time with my mother. Time spent with my family are some of my most treasured blessings. I even finished my LO showcasing some of the gifts I received. Last week was busy, I'm looking forward to a little down time this week so I'll be able to do some things at my own pace. Stayed tuned for the posting of my Mother's Day LOs.

Teacher Appreciation

Photobucket
This is the card I made for my daughter's teacher for Teacher Appreciation Week and it include a gift card for some godiva chocolate. This card was one I made as part of the Pinkstamper's NSD challenges.

Teacher Appreciation

Teacher

This is the bouquet that I made for my daughter's teacher for Teacher Appreciation week. We sent a small token everyday and I sat and watched the class so she could enjoy lunch with the other teachers yesterday. I have mixed feelings about how it turned out but its the thought that counts.
